Wisconsin CHMM Chapter

Executive Committee Meeting Minutes

Monday, August 27, 2007

Members present:  Sonji Carter, Cheryl Moran, Dan Brady, Kristi Linsmeier, Patrick Rego, Jeff Nettesheim, Tariq Akmut, Michele Bogner, Kathy Bates, and Elizabeth Schuller.

Conference Call began at 4:05 pm.

1.       HAZWOPER Refresher

  • This program has historically been held on the Monday before the annual Environment Conference.  The FET Conference committee wants to free up the day for other programming.
  • In the past we have had 25-30 people attend the program, and it is felt that the CHMM Chapter should continue to hold the course.
  • Tariq and Kristi will co-chair the course and it will be offered in April 2008.

2.       Sprecher Brewery Tour and Chapter Meeting

  • The scheduled date is Monday, October 8, 2007, from 6-8 pm.
  • There will be a short 15-20 minute private tour, with use of a Beer Garden for 2 hours.  This at a cost of $125.00.
  • The Elks Club down the street will provide food.  There will be a tentative charge of $15.00 for each person attending.
  • The company has 48 employees, and the contact, Dave Bowan will see if the staff person with the environmental knowledge and responsibilities will meet with our group.

3.       Meeting Topic for November 14, 2007

  • Contact will be made by Sonji Carter to some of the speakers from the Regulatory Update Course, as to their availability to speak for a short time at our 4:30 business meeting.  One option is Paula Biewer, who will be talking on Homeland Security, to speak at the CHMM meeting after the seminar.

4.       FEROC Course Decision

  • With the advent of EHMM (Essentials of Hazardous Materials Management) there will be computer/online exam options available the last two weeks of every other month.  Currently scheduled are September 17-30, November 13-30 and January 17-31 and so on.  Tests will be held at 5 locations throughout Wisconsin.
  • The committee decided that an 11-week class will be scheduled for November 29, 2007 through March 6, 2008.  This leaves room for a one week break during February, when the Brookfield training location is not available and for a two week Christmas break.  This will align class participants with the March 2008 test dates that are available.
  • The decision to run a 3-day course has been put on hold.
  • Jeff Nettesheim and Kathy Bates will receive the course program information from Patrick, and he has agreed to assist as needed.
  • Sonji Carter will explore various options that the academy has available to assist with course curriculum.
  • According to Kathy Bates, we need to find an alternative to using MATC's classroom next spring.  There are classroom shortages and programmatic shifts that may prevent use of a room as is in the past.

5.       The Leadership 2008 Conference

  • It is with excitement that our Chapter has been awarded the opportunity to host the 2008 ACHMM Leadership Conference which will be held in Milwaukee.
  • We need to identify the date of the event and begin to work on the details.
  • Michele Bogner will distribute the proposal package to everyone.  This will help lay out what we are responsible for including meals, schedules, entertainment, lodging, training, etc.
