Present: CHMM Chapter Members – Tom Maurer, Mark Steinberg, Ken Fries, Jenelle Reick, Steven Gryzkewicz, Scott Prill, Elizabeth Schuller, Frank Ericson, Cheryl Moran; Guest – Bob Heitzer

 

I.            Welcome/Introductions

 

Welcome by Chapter President Tom Maurer

 

II.          Presentation: Port of Milwaukee Economic Impact on Business including Controlling Invasive Species 

            Betty Novak/Port of Milwaukee

 

Highlights: Economic impact of the Port of Milwaukee; initiatives that address control of ballast water to prevent the introduction of invasive species including the success of past initiatives that have resulted in no new invasive species since 2006; proposed legislation by the Coast Guard that would regulate ballast water on a national level; impacts of proposed legislation on Port of Milwaukee.

 

III.        Business Items

            Tom Maurer/President

 

Update on status of AHMP affiliation.  Further discussion is needed by FET Board and WI CHMM Chapter regarding chapter affiliation which is currently under review.  Decisions made regarding affiliation will impact proposed changes to WI CHMM By-laws.

Special guest Tom Estock will review remediation at the former brownfield site, now a registered green building project

Great Lakes Distillery, 616 West Virginia Street Milwaukee

Tour and optional tasting will begin at 5:00 p.m., special price of $2/flight for tasting; presentation by Mike McCoy, Project Manager and Toxicologist with GZA GeoEnvironmental
