Wisconsin CHMM Chapter Meeting Minutes

Wyndham Milwaukee Airport and Convention Center, following the annual FET –Environment ’08 Conference.

The meeting was called to order at 3:42 p.m. by Sonji Carter. 39 members were in attendance.

• Awards Recipients

Matt Redmann received the 2007 Champions of Excellence Award and has submitted an application for 2008.

Honor Roll of Champions – The WI CHMM Chapter received the Chapter Award for the 8^th consecutive year.

• Chapter Meeting and Tours

-          April 21, 2007 – Earth Day Park Clean Up at Hank Aaron State Trail

-          October 8, 2007 – Sprecher Brewery Tour, hosted by David Bowen

-          November 14, 2007 – Presentation by Laura Mullen, Department of Homeland Security

• Committee Reports

Promotions – Cheryl Moran

-          Earth Day Activities - Milwaukee River Clean-up

-          Presidents Award - Community Service/Outreach Event with MSP Science Department, Tony Rodriguez

Education

-          Completed the 11 week course.  Had 8 registered and completed the course and 3 people took individual sessions.

-          We are looking at a 3-day course.  4-5 people are interested.   Would like to hold in May 2008.

-          Next year is the cycle to run the 11-week course in the Green Bay Area.  Don Johnson will assist.

-          Let it be noted that the Academy took over the testing process.  The test is offered 6 times each year.  Some of the approved sites are Gateway Technical in Kenosha, UW-Oshkosh and UW-Milwaukee.  Refer to the IHMM website for additional information.

Additional Comments:

-          Need Volunteers to host a chapter meeting and/ or tour (Miller has offered to sponsor the tour/meeting in June, 2008)

-          Need ideas for topics for future meetings

-          Need volunteers for the National Conference
