Highlights: Recent changes to recertification process.
Before you start, have the following ready: IHMM username (CHMM #), password, information on recertification activity, CHMM Recertification Handbook, CHMM Examination Blueprint, $175 recertification fee.
Section I: Active Professional Practice – 20 CMPs per year of full-time employment; maximum 100 CMPs for 5-year period. Prorate for partial work years or less than full-time employment. Long term unemployment, can have credential put into Inactive Status for up to three years, during this time fees and recertification obligations put on hold.
Section II: Professional Development Activities – CMP awarded based on IHMM guidelines. Minimum 100 CMPs. Must fill out description of relevant activities. Minimum 200 total CMPs to recertify.
Do not submit documentation with submittal. IHMM will randomly select a percentage of candidates and request all supporting documentation. Keep documentation from most recent recertification on file for 5 years after submittal. Acceptable documentation includes but is not limited to: conference brochures, copy of new relevant certificate or license, college transcripts, proof of IHMM exam question acceptance, relevant patent information, proof of recognition or volunteer work.
Approval will be indicated via e-mail notification followed by receipt of notification letter and new certificate. Denial notification will be accompanied by an explanation of reason for denial or request for additional information; 30 days to respond. Failure to recertify on time will cause credential to expire. Negative decisions regarding certification may be appealed within 60 days of notice.
Recertification tracking: Recert Track offered free through end of year for AHMP members. After introductory period, cost is $19.95/month. FET and WI CHMM Chapter are working to develop a tool that can be provided to members for free. Can begin tracking renewal on IHMM site at any time during cycle, but upcoming changes may be incompatible with current program.
