4:35 p.m. Meeting called to order by Sonji Carter, Chapter President. 25 members were in attendance.

The guest speaker, Laura Mullen, of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), provided our group with a very informative description of the new Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism standards and the pending issuance of the Final Appendix A “Chemicals of Interest”. As the rules become effective and companies begin responding according to the required time-frame, there will be many questions to get answered and Ms. Mullen welcomed everyone to contact her at the DHS for questions. Upcoming Events

• Essentials of Hazardous Materials Management (EHMM) Course – The course is scheduled for November 29, 2007 through March 6, 2008. Patrick Rego is looking for additional instructors to help with the course.
• The Environment 2008 Conference is scheduled for March 10-12, 2008. Mark your calendars to attend this terrific event.
• The Annual CHMM meeting is now scheduled for March 12, 2008.
• Once again we will coordinate an Earth Day Activity. This community volunteer opportunity will be scheduled in April 2008.
• The ACHMM Leadership Workshop 2008 will be held at Harley Davidson, April 22-25, 2008. The Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers (ACHMM) hosts its annual Leadership Workshop each spring and serves as one of its premier skills building events. This workshop brings together leaders within the environmental, health, safety and security industry to share insights, sound business practices and motivational words of wisdom with attendees. It includes today’s leaders and those professionals interested in becoming more successful at work and ascending to leadership roles in the future. In addition to 1½ days of very informative leadership topics, please plan on joining us for tours and great opportunities to network and socialize.
• ACHMM 2008 National Conference is scheduled for June 2008 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
